Matte red lipsticks

Red lipsticks are saturated shades from the core red band of the colour wheel, from bright poppy and cherry to deep wine. Undertone sets the character of a red: blue-leaning reds look crisp and slightly cool, while reds that lean towards orange look warmer and brighter. Depth matters as much as hue, since a deep red reads far stronger than a light one. A matte finish shows full, flat colour with no shine, so a matte shade reads on the lips very close to its hex value. With no gloss to catch the light, matte formulas make the colour itself the whole effect, and they tend to emphasise the outline of the lips.
