Warm red
Warm red is a red lipstick whose hue leans toward orange or yellow, such as tomato, brick or orange-red.
Warm reds sit on the orange side of true red. In this encyclopedia they have a hue angle above the narrow band of neutral reds and are labelled warm. Because the red family here is drawn from the cool and neutral part of the red band, warm reds are listed under coral when they are light and under orange when they are deep. Pure red on a screen, hex #FF0000, itself measures as slightly warm on this scale.
Under the colour-theory guideline used on this site, warm reds suit warm and neutral undertones, and they often sit well with olive skin. The cool counterpart is the blue-based red.
On the lips, a warm red looks bright and sunny in a satin or gloss finish and earthier in a matte finish, especially in brick and rust tones. Next to a blue-based red, a warm red reads more orange.
