Matte mauve lipsticks

Mauve lipsticks are muted shades between pink and purple, softened with grey or brown. Their low chroma makes them read quieter than a pink or a plum. A mauve with more red reads rosy, one with more violet reads cooler and dustier, and lighter mauves sit close to a natural lip colour. A matte finish shows full, flat colour with no shine, so a matte shade reads on the lips very close to its hex value. With no gloss to catch the light, matte formulas make the colour itself the whole effect, and they tend to emphasise the outline of the lips.
