Ombré lips
Ombré lips is a lip look in which colour fades gradually from one shade to another across the lips, from the edges to the centre or the reverse.
The word ombré is French for shaded. The classic version uses a deeper lip liner or lipstick around the outer edge and a lighter shade in the centre, blended so there is no hard line. This adds depth and can make the lips look fuller.
The reverse, with colour concentrated in the centre and fading outward, is often called gradient lips. It is usually made with a lip tint or lip stain dabbed onto the inner lips and pressed outward with a fingertip, giving a soft, just-bitten effect.
Shades for ombré lips blend most naturally when they share an undertone, such as a deep berry with a cool pink, or a brick red with a warm nude. Shades with a small ΔE between them blend smoothly, while a large difference gives a stronger two-tone effect. Satin and gloss finishes blend more easily than set matte formulas.
